Carburetors, Magnetos, and More
PopinJohn Co., LLC
Thank You for considering Popinjohn Company for carburetor and magneto reconditioning.
Our labor charge to recondition a carburetor or magneto is a set rate, (varies by model) PLUS whatever parts are required; applicable taxes; and return shipping to you. Casting repairs (broken stem, broken ears etc. are charged accordingly). Severe casting repairs may not be feasible. (We'll advise you before starting).
We don't charge extra labor for "fence row" carbs/mags, but sometimes these are very expensive to recondition because so many new parts may be required. For instance, the main fuel nozzle for a John Deere G carburetor or a John Deere M carburetor can be more difficult to remove than other DLTX or TSX models and is an expensive item if yours cannot be recycled.
Our reconditioning includes glass bead cleaning, proper size drilling of passageways, float valve test, float level test, AND run test on tractor.
The charge to recondition a WICO X magneto is comparable. Magneto coils, caps and such are inspected and tested. If good, they are recycled.
We usually email or call with total when the job is near complete. We usually ship USPS Priority Flat Rate plus insurance. Turn around time is about two weeks, plus transit time. Missing serial number on tractor is not a problem as we have other ways of identifying the components. Technical advice is available during normal business hours.
